Rishikesh - A visit to the holy town of ganga

Rishikesh is India's Yoga capital. The place where the Ganges River flows through is more beautiful than you can imagine. A spiritual town made famous by The Beatles in the 1960s and 1970s among foreigners . Rishikesh is unlike any other place in India, and it must be visited by all visitors to India, whether they stay for three days or thirty!

If you're planning a trip to Rishikesh, here's my complete guide to help you have the best time possible, whether you're looking for yoga, ashrams and spirituality, or hostels and adventure activities, as it's undoubtedly one of the most beautiful places in India!

How to reach Rishikesh ?

You can reach Rishikesh through different modes of transport. My experience was a road trip so I will be talking about a road trip but you can reach Rishikesh through train, road or flight. You can reach the H
aridwar railway station from where you can take the local transport or you can reach New Delhi first by flight or train and then can take a bus, car or train ride according to your choice.

Where to Stay in Rishikesh?

if there is one thing you should know about Rishikesh and its accommodations, it is that there are two parts of town separated by the river; tourists generally stay in the northern part of Rishikesh near the Laxman Jhula Bridge. The Eastern Side is the 'busier side,' while the Western Side is the 'Yoga side,' though both are busy in their own way and both offer yoga.

Both sides have the most accommodation, as well as cafes, restaurants, yoga classes, and so on! It should be noted that during the day, the popular Laxman Jhula bridge becomes extremely congested, and crossing it can take up to 10-15 minutes due to the large number of people, mopeds, and cows! Also, the eastern side of Rishikesh is not accessible by rickshaws, so you will be dropped off on the other side from the bus station or Haridwar and will have to walk over the bridge with your bags; if you have heavy bags, this may help you decide which side to stay on!

you can stay at Plenty of hotels and hostels which are available on either side of Rishikesh. Ashrams are also an option to stay in Rishikesh which can be affordable and enriching as well.
